Additional Information:
You’ll set the “Suggested Retail Price” for your items, plus determine the commission you’ll offer to your affiliates. If ClickBank sells your product without the aid of an affiliate, it automatically marks up your product (typically by $1.00 + 7.5% of the total purchase price), and sends the rest to you. But if an affiliate refers the sale, the markup cost is less so as not to cut so deeply into your profits.
ClickBank has a clear and fair Accounting Policy clearly outlined at their site for you to peruse before deciding to sign up. It’s clear from this Policy that ClickBank attends to every possible consideration in the online exchange of money for goods.
To utilize ClickBank, you must:
• Sign up for a FREE membership
• Give ClickBank permission to sell your wares
• Have an active website promoting your products
• Maintain tech support pages for these products on your site
If you comply with that, then not only will ClickBank sell your products, but it will also:
• provide customer support for your product
• make your site available for their over 100,000 affiliates to drive traffic to on your behalf
• help you recruit new affiliates to promote your site directly
• give you and all your affiliates accurate sales reporting in real time
• send biweekly paychecks out to you and all your affiliates
ClickBank is a fast and easy way for you to accept all sorts of credit cards and alternative online payment methods for your products. ClickBank accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diner’s Club, EuroCard, Bravo, Carte Blanche and JCB as well as PayPal and online checks.
Once you sign up for ClickBank you will then be instructed to create a couple of web pages to be hosted on your own website:
1. a Publisher’s Pitch Page (PPP) where you describe your target customer, your product, and – most importantly - give your best sales pitch to get the viewer to purchase the product through ClickBank
2. a Publisher’s Thank You Page (PTP) that customers will come to after they’ve completed their purchase and their credit card or online check has been approved. On this page, you:
a. thank the customer for their patronage
b. show your email address
c. remind your customer that their bank statement will show a charge by ClickBank
d. collect any additional info you might need from them
e. provide an Exit Link
You must then test and verify that all your links work properly. Once that’s done, you submit a product approval to ClickBank that details the maximum price that can be applied to any of your products (standard is $50, but they’ve been known to go as high as $500).
Finally, it’s time to “Activate” your account. And this is where it’s no longer FREE (alas). There is a one-time $49.95 fee to activate your ClickBank account, which includes the cost of ClickBank “reviewing” your product.
After you pay, you’re still not done. You then have to set the individual prices for each of our products. Once you do that, however, it’s time to go live, connect to the network, and let ClickBank take over (about time, right?).
ClickBank manages all aspects of the sale including:
• generating sales reports and paycheck histories
• providing sale notifications
• delivering purchase confirmations and customer confirmations
• issuing refunds and chargebacks (you may be penalized for chargebacks, however)
You will have to create pieces of code called “hoplinks” and “paylinks” to make it all work, but rest assured, they make it very clear, in plain, simple language, how to go about doing that. But even the technically averse would do well to overcome their aversion long enough to make ClickBank work for them. Because it will.
