Additional Information:
More than just a means for sending and receiving emails, Eudora is a full-scale email management solution with tools for enhancing your communications and increasing your productivity. Basic Eudora is free.
New features of Eudora Version 7 include:
-
Ultra-Fast Search – Powered by X1, up to hundreds of times faster than before
-
BossWatch – notifies you when particular addresses you designate show up in the “To” or “Cc” fields
-
Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) – support for IMAP users increases performance and offline capabilities
-
Secure Multi-Purpose Internet Mail Extensions (S/MIME) Plugin capability– for enterprise users only
Plus, you’ll continue to enjoy all the old, tried and true features of Eudora 6:
-
ScamWatch – designed to thwart phishing schemes by looking to match IP addresses of links with hostnames that don’t match the purported hostname in the link text. Move the mouse over a link to have Eudora ScamWatch analyze it for you. If you click on a suspect link, Eudora gives you a warning to read and click through before proceeding.
-
Open SSL – Eudora relies on the industry standard in email security and digital encryption
-
Emoticons – 24 colorful pictures and character images (ie. smiley faces in different emotional states) for users to convey their more inarticulate feelings
-
WebWords – integrates Google web search with Eudora mail. Search the Web, Eudora, the current Mailbox, the current Folder, or All of the Above, with a single click
-
Content Concentrator – makes entire threads of conversations visible at a glance and removes all redundant message text. Users can jump between 3 different degrees of concentration (None, Compact, or Terse)
-
Contextual Filing Advanced Matching – instantly file messages by clicking on keywords in the message that match folder names
Easily import the contents of existing mailboxes and contact lists/address books in other external programs into Eudora.
Besides English, you can also get Eudora in French, German, and Japanese.
Keep in mind, however, though there is a hefty Eudora manual, a slew of specialized tutorials and a searchable Knowledgebase, users of the free version of Eudora 7 get no live technical support. Free users do not get SpamWatch and all emails are ad-supported (meaning covered in paid-sponsored ads that you have no control over).
By contrast, the Eudora 7 Paid Mode (for $49.95/year) includes:
-
SpamWatch – quarantines spam in a Junk folder automatically
-
1 year of upgrades
-
6 incidents of email or phone support
-
is not ad-supported, and comes with free person-to-person technical support.
Eudora also has a Volume Licensing Program (EVLP) for organizations with less than 500 users and a Site Licensing Programfor organizations with more than 500 users. These programs are generally priced per user (with exceptions made for educational institutions), and supports mixing and matching users among Windows and Mac computers.
Further, Site License Program members get priority access to technical support for 1 year and optional extended agreements (presumably at a discounted rate) each year thereafter.
Lastly, if you’re looking for a mail server, Eudora has two products that may interest you:
