The first notable difference between Brainfox and other PPC services is the sign-up bonus they offer as incentive to new users. Fund your new Brainfox account with a minimum of $25 now and get a 25% bonus, up to a maximum of $250. Bonus aside, the minimum account deposit is only $10.
Also unlike much of their competition, Brainfox does not provide telephone support, though they do provide each client with a dedicated support representative. Brainfox claims this controversial policy of not providing telephone support allows them to cut costs considerably and pass those savings on to clients. They boast an 85% client retention rate to back up their convictions.
Like all its peers, however, Brainfox offers solutions for advertisers and web publishers both. They process about 300 million search queries per month. They currently support about 2 million Internet advertising campaigns and run about 5 million keywords. Brainfox is the default search engine for Mail.com.
Advertisers
Brainfox has also taken a different approach to distribution than their peers. They’ve focused more on building its own distribution portals than – like most other PPC search engines – building and expanding on partnerships with other, third-party distribution channels. Which is a better approach is debatable.
To their credit, building distribution portals internally puts Brainfox in complete control of their distribution. As long as they can consistently drive both unique and repeat traffic to their portals they can drive visitors to your site.

There are two ways for advertisers to generate targeted leads with Brainfox:

Targeted Visitors: For web surfers, a search tool, an alternative to standard search (similar to “I’m Feeling Lucky” on Google), for you, a way to drive targeted leads not to a listing but directly to your actual website. Unfortunately, at the time of this review, trying out that service as a web surfer was extremely disappointing. Every search term we entered brought us to a 404/Error page. The advice here is to test it out yourself before signing up. They could very well have already fixed the problem.
Brainfox provides a suite of campaign management tools including reporting tools and automated bid management tools. Brainfox also employs a variety of behind-the-scenes fraud protection methods (“20 quality controls”) to prevent invalid click-throughs caused by robots, spiders, and other software-based clicks. Minimum bid is 1 cent per keyword.
Advertisers are able to view the exact IPs of the traffic delivered to them through their traffic reporting features. Brainfox supports bulk listings (of up to 5,000 at once) as well as “Smart Listings” which incorporate the keywords and phrases into your titles and descriptions.
Brainfox also has a RON (Run of Network) option. The pro is that your listings are delivered to the entire network and exposed over 15 million searches a day; the con is that the distribution of your listing will be less targeted.
Publishers/Affiliate-Partners
Brainfox’s affiliate network is similar to all the others in that, website owners are given the opportunity to monetize their existing website by providing such value-adding tools to their visitors – search boxes, text links, XML feeds, pop-ups, pop-unders, banners – that deliver those visitors to Brainfox’s advertisers. You get paid commissions on revenues generated.
Brainfox goes a step further, however, sweetening the pot with increased percentages paid to affiliates depending on the volume of click-throughs you provide to their advertisers. Even the low end of the 35-50% range is sweet.
Brainfox provides easy to generate reports for analyzing and optimizing the Brainfox Affiliate Network’s value to your bottom line.
