Kanoodle Review

Founded in 1999, Kanoodle currently has offices in New York, NY and Amherst, NY.

Kanoodle’s start-page and primary search page borrows from Google’s model of simplicity, with a mostly-blank page featuring a single search bar rather a detailed index of categories and subcategories like Yahoo and goClick.

Additional Information:

With Kanoodle, advertisers leverage text-based, cost-per-click (CPC) sponsored links to drive targeted traffic to their sites from search engine queries and content-focused web properties such as MarketWatch.com, MSNBC.com, USAToday.com, CNETSearch.com, InfoSpace, VIACOM, Associated Press, infinity Broadcasting, The Christian Science Monitor, NASCAR,com, autobytel.com, PGA.com, theStreet.com, WebCrawler, six apart, Mamma, Dogpile, and – of course – Kanoodle.com.

Advertisers

Integrate all four of Kanoodle’s trademarked products for a comprehensive, multifaceted internet marketing strategy.

Under all four advertising products, your ads will appear as text-based sponsored links consisting of a title and description that you provide and, of course, the URL.

ContextTarget:  Kanoodle uses a unique topic-based approach to target content-driven sites most relevant to your product or service and therefore most likely to have the highest traffic of visitors already interested in what you have to offer.

A simple example of this given by the folks at Kanoodle is placing an ad for stock trading software on a site that investors would use to check stock quotes.

ContextTarget operates under a pay-per-click model, meaning that you choose the price you pay each time a visitor clicks on the link in your listing.

Unlike other PPC-based sites, however, Kanoodle does not merely base your ad’s position on the comparative strength of your bid alone. Using trademarked, proprietary ClickFactor technology, Kanoodle determines your ad’s placement based on the ratio between an advertiser’s bid and the number of clicks on that listing. A more effective listing, therefore, will receive better placement.

LocalTarget:  Geotarget your ads to the localities you choose. Kanoodle’s network includes partner sites geared towards specific towns and cities. And, as part of Kanoodle’s ContextTarget program, LocalTarget ads still benefit from Kanoodle’s topic-based approach to targeting partner sites and pages with the most relevant content.

BehaviorTarget:  With this program, Kanoodle identifies target market “segments”, monitoring and evaluating surfing patterns and other metrics, whose online behavior indicates the types of products and services “on their radar”.

The example Kanoodle gives is a web surfing who visits one or more mortgage-related sites over the last 30 days, Kanoodle will send them your mortgage ad regardless of what partner-site they’re currently visiting.

BehaviorTarget is part of the ContextTarget program and, as such, benefits from Kanoodle’s topic-based approach to targeting sites with relevant content for your ads, and all ads appear as text-based sponsored links.

KeywordTarget: This is Kanoodle’s search engine product, placing your ad in search query results across a wide network of popular search engines based on keywords and keyword phrases that you select. Your placement in search results is completely dependent upon your bid for each click on your listing.

Partners

Kanoodle hosts two main types of partnership opportunities through which you can generate extra income for your company from your existing website.

BrightAds:  You can select one, two, or all three of these products to monetize your site and earn extra revenue from existing site visitors.

  • BrightAds Content and RSS: Place advertiser’s sponsored links on your site and in your RSS feeds. Make money every time a visitor clicks on one.

  • BrightAds Cookies: Add Kanoodle’s code to your site and Kanoodle will drop their cookies. You site’s visitors will never see Kanoodle advertiser ads or listings, but you’ll still earn revenue when your visitors surf to a Kanoodle-partner site and click on a sponsored link targeted to them via your cookies.

  • BrightAds Pops:  Kanoodle advertiser landing pages pop-under the main browsing window – not obstructing your site at all – and you get paid for simply showing the ad, regardless of whether or not a user clicks on the ad.

DomainHop:  This is Kanoodle’s service for effectively monetizing parked domains. Kanoodle uses its topic-based approach to place targeted, content-relevant search portal content onto your parked domain names.
