Additional Information:
Advertisers
Yahoo relies on Overture’s suite of paid search marketing products to provide a gateway for businesses and consumers in over 20 countries across the Americas, the Asian-Pacific region, and Europe to connect.
Search Marketing: Yahoo’s collection of tools for driving web surfers searching the net for products, services, and information to advertisers’ sites.
-
Sponsored Search: The basis of Yahoo’s search marketing programs. This is their standard pay-per-click advertising solution. You select keywords to drive targeted traffic to your site. You bid on each keyword based on how much you’re willing to pay for each time a new user clicks on your listing after it appears as a result of a query using that search term. Start a campaign for as little as $5 and reach up to 90% of active internet users. Yahoo publishers a free, opt-in sponsored search newsletter to help you stay on the cutting edge of internet marketing. Content Match is a free feature of sponsored search that embeds your listing in relevant content-driven pages.
-
Local Advertising: Geo-target your markets so as to drive web traffic to your brick and mortar business. This program offers two products: Local Sponsored Search is just what it sounds like – geo-targeted, localized sponsored listings, while Local Enhanced Listings gets you on the Yahoo Local Director for only $9.95 a month. Enhanced Listings include two links (ie. to coupons, promos, etc.) and a tagline in local search results, a detailed business profile with up to 10 images and listing in up to 5 categories, a reporting feature to track your listing’s progress, and a free customizable 5-page website.
-
Search Submit: Get your websites listed in the major search engines like Yahoo and AltaVista. As well as regular, commercial websites, you can submit noncommercial sites, media content, and mobile sites (ie. xHTML, WML, or cHTML pages). There are two basic search submit products:
-
Search Submit Express: After paying a flat annual review fee for each domain submitted, you pay based on a cost-per-click model.
-
Search Submit Pro: Adds extra customizability and control over your listings. Refresh listings more frequently. Support sites with Flash, session Ids, and cookies. Get extra reporting features to improve your ROI (return on investment). This program is best for advertisers who plant to spend more than $5,000 per month on internet advertising or web publishers planning to submit more than 1,000 web pages.
-
Product Submit:Submit inventory to Yahoo’s shopping pages, primarily their product search results pages and their Buyer’s Guide. Included are product photos, specs, user reviews, and side-by-side comparisons with other competing vendors. You can even open a Yahoo Store and save even more, with a 20% discount for Yahoo Store Merchants and Merchant Account Holders.
-
Travel Submit: Submit travel promotions to Yahoo Travel. Get listed on Yahoo Travel Deals Listings and on Yahoo Travel Deals Marketplace where competitor’s deals are compared against each other in categories like “Last Minute Deals” and “Today’s Top Deals”.
-

Yahoo advertisers show up in search results and on content pages across an extensive publisher network that includes: MSN, AltaVista, CNN.com, InfoSpace, Rent.com, NationalGeographic.com, MyFamily.com, CitySearch, HomeGain, ConsumerReview.com, ESPN, Juno, Excite, Netzero, Dogpile, Metacrawler, Web Crawler, Cool Savings, Knight Ridder, Yahoo itself (of course), and more!
Listings are subjected to a review by Yahoo’s quality control board that can take up to 48 hours before new submissions go live.
Yahoo even provides a Product Wizard to help you design the most effective and economical internet marketing plan for you.
Yahoo offers a personalized account services for clients running multiple campaigns - ad agencies and search engine marketers (or SEMs), for example - or large companies (such as those with ad budgets of greater than $10,000 per month).
Publishers and Big Brands
Agencies and SEMs can both manage their advertising clients through Yahoo and generate additional revenue by referring new clients to Yahoo. SEM training is available. But far more than that, Yahoo Media Solutions is probably the choicest suite of tools and resources for branding big companies online that you can find.
Whereas with most other search engines, the solutions offered web publishers and major market players could be pared down into a pair of revenue streams, Yahoo offers as many revenue-generating services to web publishing partners as to advertisers.
From RSS feeds to Y! Q (contextual search that refines listings, results, and “related listings” based on the specific content of the page on which the search originated) to standard affiliate marketing and commission-based revenue sharing, Yahoo has got all you need to maximize your existing web pages.
