BidRank is a bare bones PPC management tool comprised of three essential components: a Keyword Wizard, Advanced Automation features, and Gap Surfing. All three of these tools combine to provide users with what amounts to a basic automated bidding program.

Keyword Wizard: This tool allows you to download an entire list of keywords and keyword phrases from your account and/or any supported search engines that you specify. From this list, you can then select those words and phrases alone that you wish to manage at that moment. When you save your changes, each word is automatically set to your specified Target Rank and Bid Maximums.

Advanced Automation: This feature enables you to have a Primary and Secondary set of Bid Maximums and Target Ranks so that your campaign is optimized for shifts in your audience’s surfing patterns based on time of day or day of week.

Gap Surfing: An increasingly popular tool among search engine marketers, this evolution of automated bidding scans a user-specified range of rankings and then calculates the gaps between their bids. Once the largest gap is found, the program automatically bids on your behalf for placement directly beneath the largest gap. In this way, you are getting the highest ranking possible with the lowest possible cost per click increase.

There is a Min. Gap (Minimum Gap) setting with this tool as well, which works this way – if the largest gap found is equal to or smaller than your Min Gap, BidRank will simply bid so that you get ranked first position.

BidRank is a desktop (rather than a web-based) application. There are upsides and downsides to this, among them – that you’ll need enough hard drive space to manage your keyword lists and campaigns, but you won’t have to surrender your list to any third parties.

BidRank works with Google, Yahoo! (Overture), Miva (formerly known as FindWhat and espotting), Kanoodle, brainfox, searchfeed, Enhance, Xuppa, 411web, Turbo 10, mirago, 7search.com, mamma, quepasa, and others.

However – BidRank Plus (the oddly-named basic BidRank package) does not work with Overture. For that you’d need to buy BidRank Overture.

Nor does BidRank Overture work with the other search engines.

Therefore, if you plan to run your campaign on, say, Google and Overture, or Miva and Overture or…(you get the idea)…you’ll need to purchase both products. Yuck!

What’s this going to cost you?

Either BidRank Plus or BidRank Overture

  • 100 keyword limit - $14.90/month or $149/yr

  • 1,000 keyword limit - $29.90/month or $299/yr

  • 3,000 keyword limit - $44.90/month or $449/yr

  • 6,000 keyword limit - $59.90/month or $599/yr

  • 12,000 keyword limit - $99.90/month or $999/yr

To be clear, if you wish to own both BidRank Plus and BidRank Overture you must pay for both.

Let’s assume you want a 100 keyword limit for both – it’ll cost $29.80/month or $298/yr. If you want BidRank Plus with a 3,000 keyword limit and BidRank Overture with a 12,000 keyword limit, it’d cost you $144.80/month or $1,448/yr. And so on.
